Hello, have finally got a 1st gen

Post by NJG »

Hi all,
Im Nick from Australia. Iv wanted a first gen since I first saw one when I was 8 years old.10 years later and now I finally have one. It took almost 2 years of searching and a 20 hour car trip but it was worth it.

So what did I finally end up finding?
1971 TA22 LT
Blue paint in pretty average condition. Im looking at painting it a really dark purple or
cherry type colour that looks almost black.
GT grill and GT bonnet flutes
GT dashboard and a custom console
14x6 bathurst globes on the front
14x7 ???Nissan rims on the back (not sure what they are but they look the same only with a deeper dish)

3T-GTEU (pretty much stock)
Haltech F-10 ECU
Battery relocated to the boot
T-18 (TE72) Corolla radiator with Davis Craig fan
Fuel pumps - 280 ZX pump and a Carter fuel pump
Exhaust - 2 inch stainless steel all the way through with 'hot-dog' in the middle
Transmission - T50 out of the same T-18
driveshaft is out of an automatic TA23
diff is from a '74 TA22
Front brakes - BMW (not sure what model) vented disks with Nissan 260Z calipers
Rear brakes - Disks and calipers out of a Commodore (not sure what model previous owner couldnt remember)
MX60 struts
Pedders springs
Gas shocks
Custom panhard rod
Whiteline sway bars - 24mm front and 18mm rear

All this was done by the previous owner
My future plans for the car is first to get new wheels (back right wheel is buckled and Im not a huge fanof them anyway) im thinking rota rb's (iv posted a question in Chassis & Suspension regarding the wheels so please check it out). Then get the body looking shmick. It has 2 small rust spots to get rid of then a new paint job, im thinking an almost black looking purple or deep cherry. Re-chrome the grill and flutes, then finally a new muffler (I dont like the one on it now).

Hopefully all this shouldnt take too long as i've recently inherited some money. Anyway here are some pics

The paint looks pretty good in these pictures but in real life it isnt anywhere close to that nice

Hi Nick,

Click the "IMG" button above the text box when you are doing your post. Paste the link in between the two "IMG" "/IMG" that are in square brackets not "Quotes", and make sure the link you post ends with ".jpg" if it doesn't delete any extra link info after ".jpg" and it should work.

Try again, and if not I think there is info in somewhere on here with how to post pics, but that should work.

If the link is like "http://www.autocruising.com/sites/dgreg ... 113542/net" Just remove everything after the .jpg (ie: /0113542/net)
EG: "Image" (Just without the ")

At it should come out like this:

They are in the right format, but the URL is not good. Your URL is to a directory, not to individual images. Make sure that the URL that you paste in there ends with a '.jpg' or some other image extension.
