New guy from Utah

Post by stucky »

About a week ago a friend of mine asked if I wanted to go to Washington to help with a couple celicas and bring them back to Utah. Well I agreed, and soon after it looked like I would be the owner of the gold one for only $500, so I just couldn't pass it up. Somehow we got this thing back 800+ miles, most on Sunday. The car is super reliable, the starter wasn't working but we're pretty sure it's the wire at this point, picked one up but there's just not enough daylight in the day anymore.

Plans for right now.
-get that starter wire in
-front left strut is dead, replace both fronts with something more performance oriented
-winter is difficult here without defrost, and this car lacks it, figure something out with that
-the steering rack is sloppy, I had an old fb that was the same, just need a rack and pinion setup
-I need a seatbelt, probably just get some cheap aluminum bucket and harnesses
-maybe eventually cage it? some may cringe at the fact that I consider 24 hours of lemons for this car, but it would be fun and more reliable than our previous starion
-paint at some point, those stripes do rock but I like painting cars too much
-go out, raise hell, burn tires, hit up the tracks, drive hard

Update: Got the starter wire replaced, starts fine now although home depot didn't have the proper sized connector somehow so it's a little ghetto rigged and loose, I can see it being a problem in the future so I'll redo it soon. The dash lights work now it was just a fuse, also found some random screws for the driver's side mirror to mount on, and over all the car seems good to go I just need to tune the carb for this altitude because while starting you can definitely tell it has troubles until it gets warmed up or you're giving it gas, even then it's still a little rough after that. Car is good so far, I'm putting in a seat belt from our starion that has TURBOTURBOTURBO written all over it, hilarious but it'll work for now until I maybe get a bucket and harnesses, tomorrow is tech inspection then daily driver time.
