New to Celicas

Post by superbike81 »

I don't currently own a 1st Gen Celica, but I will be picking one up early next year. I currently drive this:

It's a 2008 Honda Civic Type R and I absolutely love it. Got basic bolt on mods, and a lot of money into the suspension/wheel/tire setup.

But, I'm looking for a reasonably clean example of a TA22 Celica (not sure if TA22 is the US chassis code, but that's what it is here in Japan), probably something like this:

and eventually after a year or two of working on it, turn it into something similar to this:

Old cars aren't cheap in Japan, even that first "beater" I posted will cost me about $5,000US, and the black one goes for about $13,000US.

So I'll be doing a lot of research and reading on this site to start getting an idea of what exactly I wanna do with it. Mostly it's just gonna be a fun project car, not gonna go crazy and build it for power, just a nice classic cruiser.

Welcome to the forum!

I don't know if I'd call that first one a beater. Looks like it's a had a pretty good going through before, so if you bolted all those facial parts on I'd say that's worth $5k in the states, (at least on the eastern half it would be). It'd be like half that in California.
