Step 1: Check for rust in all the usual places - rocker panels (look underneath), trunk, etc. Step 2: Check for rust again - all the usual and unusual places. Step 3: Check it out. Test drive it. Make sure everything works as it should, runs good, drives good, etc. Pop the hood. If you are still int...

Re: Hey peoples
Try doing a search here for foxau2, he does a lot of fiberglass replacement stuff and I THINK he was working on a full dash replacement. I know he has some threads showing what he offers, but I haven't been following them lately.

Re: Hey peoples
Depending on how picky you are and how original you want it, you have some options. For the seats - you can replace them with something from a newer car and have a nice upgrade at the same time. If you don't mind a dash cap, you can pick those up for well under $100, I paid around $55 shipped for mi...

Re: Toyota master tech...just bought a 77 celica
Regardless of whatever else you do with the car, let me suggest you get a small 3 piece spoiler for the rear. It's subtle, but IMHO, makes the biggest improvement in overall looks for the coupes. Better than a front lip, better than new wheels, better than smiley bumpers....

Welcome! Some great mechanics on here, not sure if there are other certified Toyota Master Mechanics, but great to see (another) one join. Very nice, clean ride as well.

Re: Old But New To Here
Stock steering wheel looks to be in decent shape, may just need a leather wrap around the outside and the center piece if you don't still have it. Keep it! Off and on I've looked for a replacement steering wheel, something that doesn't look after-market and a bit more modern. I don't think you can b...

Re: new member, hello
How bad is the rust? That's probably the biggest concern for these cars. The interior looks pretty shot on the surface, but honestly I don't think it's going to be that bad. I'm not seeing much missing, the fuse box cover which is always gone, and the ash tray which shouldn't be too hard to replace....

Phillipino and classic Toyotas seems to be a popular combination. I wonder why the Phillipino girl I used to hang out with (just friends) always made fun of my RA29? Hmm.. I wonder if I'm allowed to tease my half-Mexican wife 'cause she drives a Chebby truck? 'Course with a Sicilian grandmother you'...

Love the wheels. Side window tint looks illegally dark, hope it doesn't cause you any grief.
Any big plans or are you just going to drive it like it is?

Re: New to this forum
Welcome. Sorry to hear about the salvage title, but it's only going to matter if/when you sell it and there isn't much value in these cars anyway. As far as the attention thing, I get tons more attention in mine than any other car I've owned, even when it was completely stock. One last thing, we all...

Nice cars. If I didn't have a 1st gen Celica in high school, instead of a Celica I'd probably have gone with a MK II Supra, Mazda RX3, or 240/260/280Z instead of my '77 Celica.

Re: hello from belgium
Nice - I sometimes wish I'd have gone for a '76/'77 coupe instead of liftback.
What's with the steering wheel, isn't that the older years model? I must admit, I'm not all that up on foreign models, and perhaps st/gt differences here in the states.
